What I value the most is the practicality of a language. Unlike other skills, we are supposed to produce results of our knowledge instantaneously when dealing with languages, therefore while grammar and books are important, I believe that practical usage of languages makes for a better path towards learning one. It worked for me and helped me learn 5 languages; I am 100% sure it will work for you as well. To summarize, my methods will involve speaking and learning how to speak. As well as other skills for those who are interested.
