Ever since I took psychology principles courses, I knew that I wanted to go further in that very particular area and develop my knowledge. After taking that brief introduction class, I took the “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” course at the European Association for Behavioral, and Cognitive Therapy (EABCT) and Academy of Cognitive Therapy ACT in the autumn of 2017. The course enabled me to decide that I most definitely wanted to do something related to management in the future, alongside psychology.
Shortly after my graduation, I got accepted by Prof. Sedat Ozkan Humanite Psychiatry Clinic located in Istanbul, and started working as an intern psychologist. This organization is the distributor of leading psychology in Turkey. After completing my internship here, I started to work at the Açik Mavi Solution Center. I have been taught learning disorder tests followed by practicing them in the real world by developing new Learning Disorders. At Açik Mavi Solution Center, I have worked as an assistant to Theorist Dr. Amin Hosseini and had the chance to work on conducting tests of learning difficulty, emotional quotient, Memory, ADHD, IQ, Personality, PDD, DAP 1, DAP 2, DAP 3 and DAP 4. I am the Test Center Manager at the institution where I currently work. Within this role, I have conducted tests to follow up on the child development of the children in the Gymboree Cekmekoy branch (a province of Istanbul). The therapies I had the qualification for are CBT, ADHD, Memory, CBPT, Play Therapy, EQ, IQ, and Story Therapy.
As regards why I want to pursue your program; I really would like to improve my prevailing psychology knowledge. It appears to me that, my academic and practical knowledge about psychology would enable me to extend my knowledge and experience at your university, and also, I have a strong belief in the beneficial contribution that I will make to academic research. The tradition and excellence that come with the name of your university are invaluable. In the long term, I expect to work internationally as a psychologist. Moreover, your university has directly caught my eye by giving me an opportunity to specialist in psychology after successfully taking the core courses of the
program. Therefore, the idea of being able to be specialized within these areas seems convenient for me and I feel confident that I will largely benefit from this opportunity. According to these opinions, I am applying to your application.
I do realize that the program requires strong analytical and theoretical skills. I think the rigorous tests and therapy training and my professional experience have provided me with that crucial background. Therefore, I can confidently describe myself as a person who has the necessary analytical skills, is keen on details, and result oriented.
I am excited about this great opportunity, apart from having the chance to study at such a reputable university, the multicultural and diverse aspect of the university makes it even more appealing to me. Since my childhood, I visited many different countries and gained a great insight into various cultures. I had the chance to study for 2011 abroad again and went to the USA, where I came to a final realization that I do really love diverse environments and getting to know people coming from different backgrounds.
In addition to all of those stated above, I would like to inform you that I see myself as being highly capable of completing a degree in English. Firstly, I attended to Chicago Kaplan International School in high school which is another evidence of my fluency in English. Besides, I have translated the articles of Dr. Amin Hosseini. I have supported Dr. Hosseini through research for his book mainly focusing on IQ, EQ, cognitive skills, brain development, social skills, language abilities, problem-solving, and child- parental connections. The book named ‘’Miraculous Games: Scientific & Research-Based Games for Increasing IQ, EQ, Brain & Psychological Development’’ is currently listed on . Following my bachelor’s degree, I have written articles that are published on sagli and moodboardmags. I completed my master’s degree in clinical psychology at one of the prestigious universities of Turkey, Uskudar University in 2020. Meantime, I have also completed my internship at NP Istanbul Hospital which is the largest in Turkey and the second largest in Europe in its field. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have voluntarily worked with Dr. Selenga Gurmen as a psychologist to support front-line healthcare workers. Also, by participating in the first international neuroscience day organized by Cerrahpasa Neuroscience Club, I had the opportunity to meet international professors working in the field of neuroscience. For over a year now, I have been working as a clinical psychologist at Braintab Neuroscience and Consultancy Center. Meanwhile, to improve me and also have a more profound knowledge of the disciplines that are of my interest, I have completed the Gottman Level 1 training which Gottman Institute provides.
I am volunteer at the Children with Leukemia Health and Education Foundation ((LÖSEV) since I was a psychology student in the university. Recently, I have given a speech at an event of the LOSEV youth project to over 70 participants on “Avoiding harmful habits / Screen addiction”. I am also currently learning sign language it supports a project which is an initiative of ‘’Association of People with Hearing Disabilities and Their Families’’.
I am also working as a first-level practitioner of the European EMDR Association EMDR.
